Aquarium:

This is our new 10 gallon aquarium. It’s a little sparse right now, and only two fish so far, a dwarf golden puffer and an otocinclus.

One of my favorite bands way back when. Two Wheels Good is a super album, definitely their best. Love the song “Goodbye Lucille #1” and didn’t realize they were still producing!

Steve McQueen (nee Two Wheels Good) stands up better than you’d have thought. More Crowded House than I recall from the time.

We were driving somewhere the other day listening to Crystal Kay when this song came on and I remembered it from one of my favorite CMs when I lived in Japan. In fact, I blogged about it a while back. The song was actually written by Yoko Kanno who is well-known for her soundtrack work in anime and television. It’s such a great song!

Koa and I were driving home from Kungfu class yesterday when the iPod started playing Bauhaus’ Stigmata Martyr. I turned it up and Koa didn’t seem to mind. That’s my boy.

I had the pleasure of seeing the Skatalites way back around ‘91 at the Palace in Hollyweird and it was probably the most fun I’ve had at a show. I think it was because it was nonstop ska and dancing. By the time we left the show, we were all drenched with sweat and I was so sore the next day. The Skatalites are just super. If you can catch one of their shows, definitely recommended!

Hot on the heels of my last revelation, this morning I figured out that Gnip Gnop’s name is Ping Pong spelled backwards. It only took 30 years to come to that realization. Another step closer to enlightenment, I guess.

Miki:

Miki just loves to sit nap in front of the monitor when I am working. What a life…
Taken with a Minolta 28mm f/2.8, which is probably my favorite lens. Also the first AF lens I bought, way back in ‘97 or ‘98 at Yodobashi Camera, Shinjuku Tokyo.

Last night we went out for my Birthday dinner. Usually it’s something like sushi or (when I ate meat) a big juicy steak, but this time I went for something a little different. We went to Red Lobster! I recently saw the commercial for their “Endless Shrimp” dinner and thought it would be tasty, and it was actually pretty good! You get your choice from five different kinds of shrimp, plus one side and a salad. Here’s a quick summary of the shrimp offererings, ordered from least favorite to…
